As part of its responsible sourcing commitment Whitbread, the UK’s biggest hospitality company, launched a construction-sector specific engagement programme. The aim was to create an open, honest, and collaborative environment to identify root cause issues of modern slavery in the construction industry in order to create a wider opportunity to mitigate this risk. To achieve our goal, we worked our suppliers and also independent third-parties such as NGO Stop The Traffik. Industry-leading outcomes include the creation of a clear and concise ‘Responsible Construction information pack for all our site managers to cascade into their teams and other businesses.
