The Contract Management Capability Programme - Realising the Benefits

The Contract Management Capability Programme within the Government Commercial Function, established to provide training, development and accreditation to public sector contract managers managing firms supplying services to the taxpayer, experienced a challenging year in 2022. The first post-pandemic year saw central funding restrictions for client organisations, the need to re-engineer the programme, severe reluctance and scepticism to undertake courses for fear of the consequences of failing the assessment, and time constraints.

These challenges were embraced. By transforming and evolving, an organic approach, and focusing on people and skills development, the programme has just enjoyed its most successful year to date.
