In 2022, PepsiCo China Procurement team faced barrage of challenges due to China's strict lockdown measures to deliver elevated productivity, guarantee an uninterrupted supply chain, and ensure employee satisfaction.
Packaging is a significant spend category for PepsiCo China. Notwithstanding these challenges, the team developed new innovative methods and best practices, driving value engineering through specification optimization and pursuing a global program called ‘Project Gold.’ They increased competition through new players, e-auction, and digital category strategy tools. Through perseverance and significant cross functional engagement, the team delivered higher than planned productivity, 157% vs. target, and also established a strong productivity pipeline.
