Operation London Bridge

Queen Elizabeth II passed away on Thursday 8th September 2022. In response to this HMG put into action Operation London Bridge which was the organisation of the 10 day period of national and international mourning for the UK’s longest-serving monarch which included the journey of Queen Elizabeth II from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Palace and Lying in State Queue. DCMS had a lead role in the delivery of this historic world event as the Senior Reporting Officer for Operation London Bridge across Government.
