NHS England & NHS Improvement

Breaking existing paradigms in a bid to eliminate one of the deadliest diseases in the world

NHS England and NHS Improvement (NHSE&I) have applied novel game-theoretic concepts in the public procurement environment supporting the elimination of Hepatitis C – one of the deadliest diseases globally and a major public health concern in England. As a result of the project, more than 100,000 patients (estimated to be infected with this virus in England) can expected to be cured earlier and more effectively. The outcome of this ‘first-of-its-kind-approach’ could see England become the first country in the world to eliminate the disease well ahead of the World Health Organisation’s (WHO) target of 2030.
