Prior to last year, Global Purchasing within JLR operated several legacy processes to mitigate supply chain risk. Their objective- to protect supply continuity. However, the ineffectiveness of the processes, meant that our ability to proactively and effectively manage risk was compromised.
JLR’s available resources were not systematically used to target the most critical risks and thus increase risk of supply chain failure.
In 2020, the Supply Chain Risk Management framework was launched, its objective to proactively& systematically identify, prioritise and manage risk. Without this Framework, it would not of been possible to respond to supplier distress issues as-and-when they arose.
