Project Mercia - The rise of a new warehousing era

JLR’s growth and customer-centric philosophy led to a key challenge for their Global Parts Supply Chain team – consolidating a fragmented aftermarket warehouse landscape of20 warehouses with limited operational efficiencies into a single 2.9 million square feet Global Parts Logistics Centre. The centre will serve as a hub for 23 distribution centres around the world and also UK retailers, seamlessly integrating their supply chain partners upstream and downstream to the benefit of JLR’s customers.

The team accomplished a performance-based contract enabling supplier investment, market-leading operational efficiency, and supply chain performance with savings on operational costs of £12m amongst other commercial benefits.
