IPG’s second largest spend category globally is contingent workers (“freelancers”). Be they short-term freelancers or business consultants. We recognised that at a network level we had minimal visibility, control, uniformity, compliance and data to make any Group-wide decisions that would impact this growing spend. Our aim was to have full supplier control: both freelancers and recruitment suppliers.
Procurement recognised that the opportunity was far greater than group-wide savings against commercial, administrative and compliance targets for our marketing agencies. “Freelance” is on the rise within our business; across the creative industries; and amongst the global workforce.
