Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education
The Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education is an employer led crown Non-Departmental Public Body, launched in 2017. The Institute works with employers to create and maintain high-quality apprenticeships. In March 2019 the Institute took responsibility for T Levels as part of the Department for Education’s programme of reforms to vocational/technical education; the first project in Whitehall to be subject to a Secretary of State direction on the grounds of feasibility. The Institute awarded six contracts (for 7 T Levels) under an exclusive licence agreement (Oct’19) forming part of a programme of 25 T Levels rolled out over four years.
