Implementation of PPN 06/21 to decarbonise Public Sector procurement
Cabinet Office and Crown Commercial Service
The Cabinet Office introduced a world leading procurement policy, requiring suppliers bidding for major contracts to publish a 'Carbon Reduction Plan' (CRP) in support of the UK's Net Zero targets.
This measure has already been applied to over £200bn of procurements, resulting in thousands of suppliers across the world publicly committing to achieving Net Zero by 2050 at the latest, and reporting their GHG emissions each year. Crown Commercial Service (CCS) have taken a leading role in implementing the policy through educating, advising and training their supply-chain and customer base, including establishing a free supplier CRP compliance review service.
