HS2 is the largest infrastructure project in Europe. Phase 1 Main Civils Works (MWCC) is in excess of £10bn, with over £6bn worth of contracts awarded. HS2 recognised an opportunity to work collaboratively to manage business risk with the four Joint Venture partners and extended supply chain, taking a strategic and integrated risk-based approach to sourcing and delivery of commodities helping manage and grow a sustainable supply chain. The delivery partners have, through early market engagement and successful planning, mitigated £100M’s in cost escalations, mitigated significant programme delays, and proactively managed 1000s of suppliers through never seen before market volatility.
