Fleet Solid Support (FSS) Ship Aquisition Project

The Defence Equipment and Support’s (DE&S) Fleet Solid Support (FSS) project has pioneered the Royal Navy’s ship acquisition approach to net zero 2050 by procuring ships that will dramatically reduce their carbon impact at start of life whilst enabling the transfer from diesel to zero carbon fuels over their in-service life. In doing so they will represent the pathfinder for all other NATO nations to aspire to.

The contract will also ensure that the prime contractor, sub-contractors and supply chain organisations will maintain their own carbon reduction targets with all committing to the 2050 net-zero date: some far earlier.
