Lafiya: UK Support for Health in Nigeria

Lafiya is a £100 million, seven-year UK aid programme to strengthen health systems in Nigeria. It works in five northern States of Nigeria which have some of the worst health indicators in Africa.

The programme provides a commercial model to address a key challenge in international development: working flexibly and adaptively while still delivering value for public money. It uses Activity Schedules to balance the flexibility to test new and innovative approaches with rigorous financial management. The approach is now being mainstreamed across DFID.
