Building stronger foundations for procurement excellence in the Construction Industry
Balfour Beatty
Balfour Beatty's financial struggles around 2014 were partly attributed to ineffective and inefficient procurement systems and practices. Within the "Build to Last" transformation strategy, the Procurement function has since undergone a major transformation under revised leadership who aimed to eliminate cost, generate cash, and transform the value proposition of the function through improvements in process and governance, people and structure, digital transformation, supply chain management, and sustainability and social value. Through the procurement leadership team's efforts to foster greater collaboration internally and with supply chain, the function has successfully aided a company-wide transformation whilst constructing a class-leading entity in itself.
