Building One FCDO Commercial
Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office
In June 2020, The Foreign and Commonwealth Office merged with the Department for International Development to form the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office. Prior to the formation of FCDO in 2020, DIFD and the FCO each had two commercial directorates that were similar in terms of size of spend and functional cost. The merger required alignment of policies, processes and systems, as well as development of a new operating model for the Directorate. These have been delivered innovatively against a challenging backdrop of COVID-19; ODA Budget pressures; and significant new, emergency spend to support the War in Ukraine.
