A radical supplier management approach has set the precedent at ES Rochester for procurement of new, complex, bespoke designs. Schedule pressures drove category procurement to foster new behaviours within the supply chain, as well as new ways of working with both Mechanical Designers and the entire Integrated Product Team (IPT). The end result surpassed our expectations: we directly met the challenges of customer satisfaction, quality, cost, and a vastly accelerated lead time. Furthermore, the overall costs of change have been reduced and an individual has gained invaluable experience. We have a proactive process for procuring the most challenging bespoke parts.
