In March 2020 the Prime Minister asked Babcock to design, procure and assemble critical care ventilators and support the UK’s fight against COVID-19. Delivery timescales were unprecedented and lockdown created a significant challenge to bring together a diverse delivery team and establish a supply chain in a strained market situation. Babcock presented a credible working ventilator, an assured supply chain and delivery programme and secured the go-ahead to build 10,000 Zephyr+ ventilators. Babcock utilised innovative supply chain approaches to meet a challenging programme, demonstrating the resilience, collaboration and adaptability of the team in response to ever-evolving medical requirements and challenges.
